South Africa (and Kenya too) in New York Times:
  1. Oh South Africa... of course there are only 6 games being played in the stadium you build in a podunk town in the middle of nowhere. The article didn't mention that Nelspruit is sort of the gateway city to Kruger National Park. So, people do go there, just not for the city itself. But still. inequality is ridiculous. corruption is really really dumb. Julius Malema is currently under investigation for a bunch of stuff he bought with cash since becoming the president of the ANC Youth League. That's kinda funny.
  2. ...This right here... is what I cannot get over about South Africa. The article says around 50 children a day get raped and report it. EVERY DAY. not including the rapes that don't get reported. I can't handle it. even now.
  3. This is cool technology, yay Kenya! open source software using cell phones to track anonymously reported locations (of anything. rapes. closed roads. people trapped in buildings). really cool.
